Litmos recently held a LinkedIn Learning Break with Robyn Rodrigues and Nicole Rebic, People Leaders from Lindt Australia, a chocolate manufacturing company. The discussion revolved around how Litmos has helped Lindt Australia’s lean L&D team launch scale its eLearning program and how leveraging the tools and techniques for L&D has impacted their daily operations and business outcomes.
This virtual roundtable covered many L&D topics, including:
- The role of Litmos in Lindt Australia’s L&D strategy
- Lindt’s L&D journey, before and after using Litmos
- The impact of eLearning on Lindt Australia’s operations
- The future of L&D at Lindt Australia
Four insights from our discussion with Lindt Australia
1. Transitioning to digital learning improved scalability and efficiency
Lindt Australia previously relied heavily on manual workshops and paper-based processes for their learning and development (L&D) activities. As they expanded, they realized the need for a digital solution that could cater to their diverse sectors – retail, production, head office, and field teams. They required a learning management system (LMS) that could not only help them manage compliance training, but also eliminate the need for physical document storage. The move to eLearning using Litmos’ LMS allowed them to automate and streamline their L&D processes while adapting as they grew.
2. Different roles in the organization need different training
Recognizing that one size does not fit all, Lindt Australia has seen success in developing tailored training strategies for different roles within the organization. They created custom learning paths for different departments and roles, allowing for a more targeted approach to L&D. By understanding the specific needs of each department, they were able to provide relevant learning materials and resources, enhancing the learning outcomes and engagement of their employees.
Rodrigues explained the iterative process that her team took to begin customizing their approach to training, saying: “We created separate strategies, and we understood the level of the learning and what levels each of the departments were in. We then understood what the future could be and started small, engag[ing] with every individual at that time as well. And that includes our production team and our retail team.”
3. L&D metrics facilitate continuous improvement and demonstrate ROI
Lindt Australia tracks key L&D metrics to understand the impact of their training initiatives. The company uses various key progress indictors (KPIs) such as completion rates, engagement levels, and compliance data to evaluate the effectiveness of their L&D strategies. By monitoring these metrics, they can identify areas of improvement, tailor their training content, and measure the ROI of their L&D efforts.
“We lead the world now in safety within Lindt,” Rodrigues noted. “And that’s pretty much due to the training that they’re receiving and how it’s been delivered… We will always be sitting within the 95% mark, which wasn’t happening before.” She also emphasized how Litmos’ reporting features have helped more departments make data-driven training decisions at Lindt: “So much so that it’s no longer sitting as an action plan item within any of our departments.”
4. A culture of continuous learning reinforces organizational values
Through their L&D strategies, Lint Australia has fostered a culture of continuous learning and engagement within their organization. Leveraging Litmos LMS, the company has made L&D accessible to all employees, from the head office to the production line, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to grow and develop. They have also empowered their employees to take ownership of their learning, fostering a sense of value and connection to the organization.
“We have a responsibility to each other and what does that look like?” Rodrigues states when discussing Lindt’s core values. “We’ve been able to create modules that really are niche for every department that can bring our values to life,” she explained.
