Canidium is a leading software consultancy that partners with clients to improve business processes and deliver technology-driven solutions, such as Sales Performance Management, Pricing, Insurance, and Professional Services.
Our team must not only be strong with technology but must also stand out as exemplary consultants and trusted business advisors.”
– Canidium
To support their vision, Canidium needed a strong learning program to train their employees, and their search led them to Litmos.
Canidium Training Needs
“The mission of the Learning Program Management office (LPMO) is to build talent to build the business. We realized years ago that we need the capability to grow, train, and cross-train our own talent, given our forecasted growth and fluid SaaS ecosystem. Furthermore, we must go beyond technical training, and develop business skills as well, to foster a team of world-class consultants.”- Rodney Ray, Learning PMO Director
As an implementation partner for an array of software solutions and enterprise customers, Canidium team members need to continually learn new tools and features, work with geographically dispersed teams, and support various business models to deliver world-class service. It was evident early on that Canidium required a more dynamic and agile way to train, beyond traditional classroom methods.
Canidium’s Day to Day with Litmos Solutions
Canidium currently trains over 150 active learners across North America, India, UK, Latin America, and Australia. With only two admins to run the LMS, Canidium needed a learning solution that would simplify the process of creating and delivering training to their learners.
“We chose Litmos because it enabled Canidium to deploy and easily manage self-paced eLearning content. In addition, Litmos’ built-in content authoring tool has really changed the game for us. It allows us to produce graphically engaging and interactive content. The learner can click through and learn at their own pace, making the content far more accessible for our global team. It also provides the ability to update our training more easily, as the products we support continually change and grow over time. This is very important within a SaaS framework,” Ray states.
In addition to functional role training, Canidium uses Litmos for onboarding new associates and cross-training existing team members to support talent and career development. Product training is also critical.
For example, as an SAP implementation partner, keeping their team up to date on the latest SAP product releases is crucial. Litmos plays a key part in this training as it enables Canidium to train groups or individuals on a fluid, dynamic schedule, and maintain up to date content across a variety of topics.
When SAP rolled out their Embedded Analytics tool for Commissions, Canidium needed to educate their team as quickly as possible to support customer implementations. Their approach involved the following components to iteratively develop content:
- Litmos: As SAP released power hours and online videos, Canidium used the embedded code to create the initial courses, and checklists/pages of information to point to additional help links and documentation.
- In their HANA (High-performance Analytic Appliance) environment: Canidium’s team worked through the videos and other resources to research, explore, and build out videos and initial exercises for hands-on practice, and worked through administrative user setup.
- Litmos: Over time, as Canidium’s teams gain expertise on the latest technology, the content is continuously built out, updated, and refined. Today, a robust learning path exists for learners who need to train on the EA tool.
Not only has Canidium used Litmos to drive the success of their business, but the broader success of their SAP partnership and implementations. Canidium was awarded the:
- #1 SAP CX implementation partner in 2018 and 2019 for SAP Sales Cloud/Callidus products (Commissions, CPQ, ICM)
- SAP CX NA Partner of the Year in 2020
Canidium’s Success with Litmos
When Ray joined Canidium in 2014, he immediately leveraged Litmos to help begin building the Learning Program Management office (LPMO).
Since joining Canidium, Ray has seen fantastic results from his team, he noted a few of the most recent:
“The current economic climate makes it more important than ever to not only develop the talent of our people, but to maintain a learning environment where we can foster mobility within our workforce to respond in an agile manner to evolving business demands.
Within a consulting company, when one of our consultants is in-between projects, providing the opportunity to upskill or develop new skills to redeploy in other areas of the business is key.
Additionally, in the SaaS ecosystem, our product partners continue to roll out new features and enhancements to their software, which creates an ongoing need to train our consultants to work with our customers to implement these features.
In 2023, one segment of our business illustrates this point particularly well: our Insurance Practice. Specifically, this practice outpaced many others in terms of demand for project team members, as well as the need to learn new features rolled out on the latest SAP Insurance platform.
The Litmos LMS has been a key tool in this effort, specifically with respect to new hire onboarding/training; cross-training team members from other areas of the business; upskilling personnel within the insurance practice on new product features introduced by SAP”, Ray explained.
Some highlights of how the Learning PMO, with Litmos as the backbone of their onboarding and cross-training, helped meet that demand:
Canidium’s Insurance Team has grown by approximately 20% in the first half of 2023, driving 24% year-to-date revenue growth.
Over half of open roles in 2023 were filled with existing employees who were cross trained from other areas of the company.
Trainees ranged from entry-level hires, with minimal experience, to more seasoned consultants and architects.
As they gained knowledge on the newest insurance product feature (Agent Connection), Canidium was able to rapidly develop and deploy virtual training for an immediate 5X knowledge expansion factor, as well as making the module available as part of the learning path for all new hires and cross-trainees going forward.
In addition to these impressive results, Canidium’s onboarding average timeframe to train and staff a team member averages around 30 days, compared to the industry average of between 110-140 days. (2019 Professional Services Maturity Benchmark Survey)
As a service company, Canidium works under MSA’s with their customers and Litmos helps them stay at 100% compliance with a variety of compliance settings for each course.
Finally, Canidium has added Litmos Training Content to their Litmos solutions portfolio, saving them countless hours on course development. They have included market content courses in some of their learning paths, such as presentation skills, and many of their quick guides point to market content resources for skills development.
We have activated over 100 Litmos courses in our library. If we conservatively estimated 40 hours of development time per course, that would equate to months of development time we saved,” says Ray when asked how much time he believes they have saved utilizing Litmos Training Content.
