Understanding the Needs of the Chronically Ill, Acutely Ill Patient
Patients go to the hospital to receive care when they’re acutely ill or have a chronic illness that they can’t manage from where they live. Patients entering the hospital come with many needs, including physical, emotional and even learning needs. They need to feel that they’re surrounded by people who can identify their needs, take care of their basic needs for nutrition and hygiene, reduce their pain, and help them transition to home, a nursing home or another setting. This course focuses on identifying and alleviating the basic needs of hospitalized patients.
